What does DriveShift migrate?
DriveShift is focused on selected Google Drive folder migrations between Google Workspace tenants. It scans the selected folder, recreates supported hierarchy, copies supported files, converts supported Google-native files, applies mapped permissions, and generates a report.
Can DriveShift migrate an entire Google Drive?
The landing workflow is scoped around selected folders. Broader migration support depends on the configured migration scope. Contact DriveShift before planning a full-Drive migration.
Does DriveShift preserve nested folder structure?
DriveShift recreates supported nested folder hierarchy in the target tenant and reports failed or skipped items. It does not claim that every form of metadata is preserved.
How are Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides migrated?
Supported Google-native files are processed through export and import flows so a new target file can be created in the destination tenant.
Can file ownership transfer between tenants?
Cross-tenant ownership behavior depends on Google Workspace rules and tenant policies. Owners may be mapped to target identities but applied roles can differ.
Why can owners become writers?
When ownership cannot be preserved across tenants or policies, DriveShift may downgrade source owners to writer where required and report the adjustment.
What happens when a user does not exist in the target tenant?
Unresolved identities are reported for review. DriveShift does not invent target users or bypass Workspace policies.
Does DriveShift preserve permissions?
DriveShift applies mapped permissions where possible. Target Workspace sharing policies remain authoritative and can block or alter outcomes.
Does DriveShift automatically rewrite Drive links?
DriveShift records source and target file IDs and includes link rewrite analysis. It helps identify replacement candidates; it does not claim every link is automatically rewritten.
What is included in the one-folder trial?
The trial includes one selected source folder, nested folders and supported files, validation, folder recreation, Google-native file handling, permission mapping, link rewrite analysis, and a report.
What Workspace permissions are required?
Required permissions depend on the configured migration scope, source tenant, target tenant, and Google Workspace policies.
Can target Workspace policies block a migration?
Yes. Target tenant policies remain in control and may block sharing, ownership, file creation, or other migration actions.
What happens when a file fails?
Failures are captured in the migration report with context so the item can be reviewed, retried, or handled manually.
Are Shared Drives supported?
Support depends on the configured migration scope. Contact DriveShift before planning a Shared Drive migration.
How do Google API quotas affect migration?
Google API quotas can affect migration speed, retries, and limits. DriveShift reports migration outcomes, but tenant and API limits still apply.
